18-19thC HUGE Free Blown Engraved Hops & Barley BEER ALE Glass RUMMER 15

This oversized free blown & pontil scar hand engraved BEER ALE RUMMER - Goblet which is a museum or serious collectors item... It has been REPAIRED see the wire work and staples on the stem.....

The person that owned this when it broke WANTED to keep it and thought a lot about it.. That is why it has been Mended.

I challenge you to find another anywhere to COMPARE this one with. 18-19thC HUGE Free Blown Engraved Hops & Barley BEER ALE Glass RUMMER 15. Colours may differ due to any flash used.

Please check the postal DATE mark on the package when you get it. Here is a really FABULOUS antique 18th or early 19th Century I would say clear glass, free blown with a really nice pontil scar on the base, hand engraved on the main goblet glass bowl with HOP Leaves as well as BARLEY CORN heads and LEAVES.

So this is an OVERSIZED huge ALE glass. Look now at the base... See it has been picked up and put down many times with the scuffing of the bottom foot rim edge...

Which has scuffed it about an inch into the width of the base rim. You will see the 6 inch long STEM has been broken and repaired in antiquity.... It has two drilled in staples at the bottom and wire as well as a wire staples in the top section of the stem.... Wire and solder too on this top section....

You can see a CRACK with a sharp bit of glass near the top... This centre section of stem is HOLLOW as its been blown hollow..

With the 6 different "ins & outs" of the way its been blown.... its probably been repaired at the same time... Its a good job as its not loose and wobbly. The clear glass has striations in it from been blown...

BEER - ALE - WINE drinking special ceremonial occasion... Maybe used at a TAVERN - PUB - INN or even a Fraternal Society owned it. It is a RARITY for sure..... It could well be a PUNCH bowl too. I will let you decide what you want to call it.

It is 15 inch tall x 7 inch dia base x 8 and half inch top rim dia and the thickness of the glass on the rim is approx 1/4 inch and the stem is 6 inch long x 2 and half inch wide at the widest point x 1 and half inch at the narrowest point... Which is NOT a lightweight.

It really is a FANTASTIC rare oversized Glass. I wonder how many of these large glasses were made all those years back.....

Quite a number I would have thought... But VERY FEW survive due to their weight and size... Easy broken a long the way. I see from one website that glasses from the Early 18thC tend to have engraved Hops & Barley upon them..... Some of you MAY be thinking...

WOW thats got a hefty price tag... Well to you folks I would say SHOW ME ANOTHER to compare this with.
