2 RARE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BLUE CUT GLASS ESCUTCHEONS / KEYHOLE COVERS. You see these covers in clear crystal occasionally, but I haven't see any others in blue. Each cover measures about 2 3/4" long and 1" wide. The front side is faceted and the rear side has a cut star.
Each cover has a brass plate designed to fit over the key hole. The glass is then swung to the side when the key is inserted into the lock. I believe they are from the Victorian era, either the late 19th century or early 20th century.Condition of these blue glass escutcheons is EXCELLENT with no chips, cracks, or fleabites. The brass has some discoloration spots that I did not attempt to clean. Overall, these keyhole covers look fantastic and would be especially great if you had matching blue doorknobs. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself. Blue escutcheons are extremely hard to find and rarely come up for sale. Front Side of Glass Cover. Rear Side Showing Cut Star.
